We were founded in 1996 with the merger of Partners in Parenting Education and Literacy Volunteers of America: Kerr County. Known originally as Families & Literacy, Inc., we have operated in Kerr County and the surrounding counties for over 27 years. In 2023, we became Elevate Adult Education and continue to offer the same life-changing opportunities for students in the Hill Country.

Misty was born and raised in Kerrville. She graduated from Tivy High School in 1999 and went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology and Business at Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX in 2003, where she was also a 4 year letterman in basketball. In 2005, she earned her Master of Science in Sport Management from Texas A&M University. Prior to graduating, Misty started as an intern for Spurs Sports & Entertainment in the Community Relations department, where upon graduation she was promptly hired full-time to manage the Education Programs. Upon returning to the Kerrville area, Misty has worked for non-profits putting to use her marketing, event management, and fundraising skills. Her passion is education, empowerment and leadership through sports, and her children. Misty is married to Dustin and they share two children- Harper and Macy- two dogs, two cats, and numerous goats and miniature cows!
Emily was raised in Kerr County and her family have been members of the community for over 100 years. She graduated from Ingram Tom Moore High School in 2002 and went on to Texas Tech University where she received a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a Criminology Concentration. There she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and the Scuba Diving Club. After graduating in December 2006, Emily worked in a Crime Lab for 8 years doing Blood Alcohol and Drug Chemistry before she had her twins and returned to Kerr County. Emily is married to Craig, they have twins, Travis and Bebe, and Teddy is their youngest. She enjoys hanging out with her family and friends, traveling, volunteering at her kid’s school, and helping her parents on the family ranch.
